Heads Ceases Publication

All good things must come to an end--including your favorite magazine, HEADS. After publishing for seven years, the creative team behind HEADS has decided that it is time to say goodbye and explore new directions. From the premiere issue, Unite to the final issue, Headsgirls, the vision behind HEADS has remained true--an alternative voice incorporating all the interests of the modern pothead. It's been fun--you couldn't ask for a better gig--but the HEADS concept was ahead of its time and remains just beyond the reach of mainstream America. There will be a place for HEADS somewhere in the future--until then the HEADS staff wishes to send out love and respect to all the readers, contributors and everyone who supported the magazine over the years.

We welcome all your comments, memories, well wishes, farewells etc... Click on the comments link below to share your thoughts. We'd love to hear from you.

Peace

Kaya Spring, Steve (AKA Lee Roy Wilson), Sam, Leo and the extended Heads crew.

Heads was the best weed mag ever bar none. You guys will be sorely missed. Thanks for all the good stuff.

definitely miss the mag

Just wanted to say thanx for all the knowledge of being cannabis conniseurs. Also, many blessings on all of your future endeavors and always, PeaceNmine.

I was a regular, off-the-rack purchaser of your mag. I bought it when I felt like reading about relevant issues, phenomena, arts, etc, presented in an adult manner with respect for my maturity and, intellect, and sensibilities. At no point did I feel like I was being treated like a stoner when reading your magazine.

Your design was unparalleled in the 'marijuana culture' genre. Frankly, it is still the best looking magazine I (am now forced to re-) read. I leave your Hydro 74 issue out because it's always conversation starter. Your recent medical marijuana issue has an absolutely gorgeous cover as well.

I am truly bummed that you won't be putting out a magazine anymore. You all deserve the best in your future endeavours as karmic reward for the efforts you put into Heads Magazine.

Here's hoping you keep the name around somehow - lots of good memories for me.

Cheers.

it's a shame i was not able subscribe to this awsome 'zine before it concluded its first round... i believe it will return when the society has more of an acceptance of ganja, and it will be better than ever.
i only wish i could have realised it was here a few years ago.

great work with composing this to all of the crew involved! awsome concept.

JAH, RASTAFARI !!!

'ave a good one mon! cheers.

i am very very sad to see you go. so are a lot of people...

you had a lot going for you... you're new jobs must be fucking awesome if you gave up the magazine for it...

peace and love in whatever you find yourself doing.

HEADS is the best magazine I've ever read. It was classy, informative, artsy, and athletic all while supporting on of the greatest causes on the planet. May we meet again! Best wishes to the entire staff and kudos!!

YOU SHOULD MAKE ALL THE BACK ISSUES FREE ON THE WEBSITE NOW THE MAGAZINE HAS FINISHED?

i thought i would never see the day that this magazine ended. i would wait each month for this mag to come and i would smoke a fat blunt to my head an read the whole thing in a couple of hours.

Thanks for all the good info,. I read high time now and then but heads mag made me want to buy it every month i would drive 40 miles once a month for the new mag the place i went was the only place i found the mag i looked in my area but all i found was high time so boring no good info.but thanks and i will miss the magazine thanks and good luck to the staff

Grrrrrrreat adventures! Since the first time I met Steve working at V-low to my last day for Heads. It was a great adventure, we met so many great people and we took Heads in a short period of time to a standard of hemp publication that blew the mind of readers and advertisers. HEADS became a a lifestyle magazine that venture in some different cool realms that every issue was greeted by us and readers as a new brighter path for the movement. Heads got its foot in the mainstream (clothing company, skateboards, toys and more)step by step I believe that we made a difference.

We wanted a different magazine that could carry our love of life for stoners.

I remember being at the Seattle Hemp fest with our skateboard ramp (thanks to our Satori Brother- lot of love goes to you) having kids skating and enjoying the sun. I was proud to be part of something bigger that me, and i knew if we had 2-3 more years we could have taken Heads Magazine to wider audience.

For now we are taking a long break. What will happen? I don't know.

Thank you to all, i don't want to say goodbye 'cause that will be dead. So I'll see you soon...

Thank you steve and kaya for giving me the opportunity to be part of Heads. My love and respect is bigger that you think. Sam, great working with you lot of love and kisses.

this sucks i just heard about your magazine from friends and i thought it was awesome

You guys had a good rag. Heads had a style that was pefectly laid back, yet right on the edge of stoner style. I looked for it tonight at the bookstore, as I have for the past couple of months...now I know Heads is dead. Long live Heads- I will miss you guys. Peace!

Peace out guys.

Was Heads like a less successful High Times or something?
I never heard of them.

say it ain't so

Thank you Steve, Leo and Sam. It was great working with you all, and being able to get together at events(Phil Lesh, Seattle HempFest). Heads was a first class publication, and remains an entity in the cannabis genre of publications. You're gone for now, but hopefully will return, documenting the sometimes obscure lifestyles of the everyday 'head'. And that's what Heads was a publication that held the interest of the stereotypical 'stoner' to the Wall Street burner..er I mean banker burner..or is it burner banker..you know what I mean the white collared smoker...

Peace and thanks,

Pure Hemp

hey fuck you guys, your seriously going to leave us in the hands of...weed world, skunk and bobby black.... thats lame you guys need to come back and keep this style real

After finally settling in and finding a home for my writing, I am sorely disappointed in the demise but implore you to celebrate your success.

The Dalai Lama told me you must look at disappointments as opportunities, thusly i look forward to seeing what the talented crew will brew up next.

I heartily salute your determination, dedication and professionalism - you treated me first-class as a writer and I am proud to have played tiny part in the success of this outstanding publication with my two Head First articles and other columns.

Thanks Steve and Sam tres-mucho and when in Vancouver, the vape hits are on me ;-{__~~

Damn, no wonder I've had so much trouble finding you guys lately. Really the only herb magazine around with quality articles, originality and creativity. You will be missed.

Sadly Everything must come to an end. Its never an easy thing to do. I have been in the military for the past 5 yrs, despite my current occupation I have always stayed true to the herb, and you've helped me to do that. Nothings like the real thing but when you can't have that then Heads was the next best. For all the connoisseurs out there this magazine was it, no other magazine could fill your shoes. Well till we meet again.

I'll never forget the day I bought the psychedelic issue. I knew then and there that this magazine was different. A superior quality cannabis magazine, one not afraid to use big words and talk chemistry a bit. You didn't even bombard us with ads for crappy legal highs. You had actual content in the magazine.

I only wish I'd had more money to support you folks through the years. Maybe then you could still be operating. Best of luck in your future endeavours and may random find you well. \m/

It is a pity that this magazine must quit. It was a fun, beautiful magazine, a pleasure to read, that didn't constrict one's attention with ads. It was a true lifestyle magazine. I will miss it.

See you around, Heads Mag...

This certainly is not what I expected to read when I opened the Heads page. I was waiting so I could purchase a subscription to the magazine for a year. Your magazine brought maturity to the marijuana community through political and scientific writing. As writing is just putting thoughts into physical form, we can all see that this was a well thought-out magazine that truly is ahead of it's time. You are correct in stating that this magazine is just out the reach of mainsteam American. That is what it is...out of the reach of them, not vice versa. I hope something works out for at least of few of you to get together to put out another magazine of this nature. Rather, a magazine about this part of nature!

What....Why... New endeveors.... what are they......and why is the best marijuana mag leaving its valued readers, when will we be updatted of the new endeavors practised by the staff.......WTF... ohwell yous guys were great while you were here. Peace out
